Election Day in Knox County

Polls open in Knox County at 8:00 AM and close at 8:00 PM on Election Day this Thursday, August 6. Any registered Knox County voter may cast a vote, but you have to vote at your assigned polling location.

Knoxville residents are also Knox County residents. If you live within Knoxville city limits, you are eligible to vote in the election for Knox County Mayor.

If you do not vote early, Election Day is Thursday, August 6. On Election Day, you must vote at your assigned polling location.

Before You Go

  • Check your voter registration to make sure your information is up to date and that you're eligible to vote in Knox County. Click here to verify your registration.

  • Bring an accepted photo ID. Tennessee voters must present a Tennessee state-issued or federal photo ID when voting. A Tennessee driver license or U.S. passport may be used—even if expired. College student IDs and photo IDs issued by other states are not accepted. Review Tennessee’s voter ID requirements.

  • You may vote at any Knox County early voting location. You do not have to visit your assigned Election Day precinct or the early voting location nearest your home.

  • Confirm your registration before heading out. Use GoVoteTN to check your voter registration, review your sample ballot, and find your assigned Election Day polling place.

  • Knoxville residents can vote for Knox County Mayor. If you live within Knoxville city limits, you are also a Knox County resident and may vote in the county mayoral election.

  • Early voting ends Saturday, August 1. Election Day is Thursday, August 6. If you wait until Election Day, you must vote at your assigned polling location.
